TORNADO WATCH UNTIL 10PM FOR KINGMAN AND RENO COUNTIES:
The severe weather outlook for Wichita metro for Wednesday afternoon and into Wednesday evening looks to be a stormy one. According to the storm prediction center, most of the state of Kansas is under a 'moderate' risk of severe weather beginning around mid afternoon and extending into the evening. Although the greatest threat has now shifted a little bit more towards western Kansas and the Oklahoma panhandle, once storms fire up, they could continue to move into south central Kansas, including metro Wichita by this evening, bringing with them, large hail, damaging winds, and even a few tornadoes. Wichita is also forecasted for stormy weather Thursday and Friday.
Wichita and south central Kansas appear to be under the gun for severe weather on Tuesday, May 28th and also on Wednesday, May 29th.
Tuesday's threat appears to be marginal at this time, but Wichita could be under the gun for isolated thunderstorms in the evening, that have the potential to turn severe.
Wednesday's threat appears to be centered in the Wichita metro area, and according to the National Weather Service, conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms in central Kansas, and the possibilty exists for damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes (some of which could be long tracked tornadoes).
